Visiting Nosy Be
Nosy Be, off the north-west coast of Madagascar, is one of the most popular beach destinations in the Indian Ocean. Nicknamed the Perfume Island for its ylang-ylang plantations, it is the base for boat trips across the archipelago: Nosy Iranja and its long white sandbar, Nosy Komba and its lemurs, Nosy Tanikely marine park for snorkelling among corals and turtles. On the main island, Lokobe reserve, the sunset from Mont Passot and the markets of Hell-Ville complete the stay. The dry season, from April-May to November, brings calm seas. Fascene airport is about 1 h 15 by air from Antananarivo.
